How does the coaching work logistically?
I’ve found that the best way to offer quality coaching services is to connect via Zoom. If you would prefer to do our coaching via phone, just let me know—no problem. And if you’re local (I’m in the Inland Empire in Southern California), I’m happy to meet in person. Most clients tend to like working via Zoom because of its logistical ease.
I use Zoom for my videoconference sessions, and simply email you a link once you’ve scheduled your appointment. Click on the link at the time of your appointment and you’ll enter my virtual room. Any writing you want me to see should be emailed to me beforehand as early as possible.
Do you do proofreading and editing?
I take on proofreading and editing projects as my time allows, but my main focus is coaching. Editing is different from, and does not include, coaching. Contact me for more information on editing and proofreading, or to inquire about scheduling this service. My prices for editing projects are $.026/word (2.6 cents per word).
If I hire you to edit my writing project, what do you do?
When I edit a paper, I can use track changes in MS Word to suggest changes to your document, where you ultimately choose which of my suggestions to change, or I can provide a clean document, ready for submission, along with a pdf—the choice is always yours. I provide copy editing—I identify and correct grammar, punctuation, syntax, and formatting errors. Additionally, I address tone and style including subjective language, passive voice, emotionally charged language, and redundancy. And also redundancy. If the writing lacks sufficient clarity for me to understand and offer a solution, I simply identify that it needs revision for clarity. Editing work does not include writing coaching.
