Townsend Writing Coaching provides academic writing coaching and support to writers in higher education, focusing on graduate and postgraduate writers needing a professional coach with deep expertise, compassion, and most importantly, someone who has been there.
Policies
I am committed to your writing success, and I do this work because I take joy in helping people grow and accomplish their writing goals. Your time is important and has significant value, and so does mine. My policies help us honor the time and effort that we both will give to our sessions, and are designed to be reciprocal, based on mutual respect.
Confidentiality
My goal is to create a safe and supportive place for you to grow as a writer and a person, so all coaching sessions are kept confidential. This includes our conversations and all writing that you send me, including emails.
Scheduling and Cancellation
Each coaching session is scheduled in advance, and you have the option of meeting with me via phone, videoconference, or (if you’re local) in person. No shows, cancellations, or rescheduling requests received less than 24 hours before the session time will be charged full price for the session, no exceptions. I hold myself to the same standard because your time is no less valuable than mine. If I no show, cancel, or have to reschedule the session less than 24 hours before the session time, then you will receive a session at no charge.
Refunds
Choosing to work with a writing coach is a significant decision, and I want you to be comfortable with me before making any financial commitment. Because of this, I offer a 30-minute consultation for free so that we can meet, talk about your writing goals, and let you decide if we’re a good fit. While it is possible to pay for sessions in advance if you choose, I typically bill after each session. Because I bill this way, you don’t have to make a big investment before you know how I work.
Academic Integrity
Academic integrity is important to me, and in the academy, ideas can translate directly into career advancement. Your ideas and writing are yours and will be kept confidential. Conversely, I provide writing coaching services to help you be the best writer you can be. I categorically do not provide ghostwriting or paper writing services, and inquiries to this end will go unanswered.
